In addition to a wide array of international commercials, he is highly regarded in the world of documentary film and virtual reality.

Awards include a Cannes Gold Lion, a Gold Clio, a Webby, and a D&AD among many others. Toronto International Film Festival chose Arctic Sun as its top commercial in Canadian film history. His documentary films have exhibited at major festivals and institutions around the world, and garnered a Canadian Academy nomination. His film Nollywood Babylon was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance. Samir was selected for the Saatchi and Saatchi New Director’s Showcase and won Best Young Director at Cannes Festival of Creativity in 2010.
